CENALGA Organic Pure He Shou Wu Extract
is one of the most revered tonic herbs of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
He shou wu was originally called Jiaoteng, whose name translates as "vines that tangle in the night", referring to its form: an intertwining vine.
The unlikely hero of the shou Wu story is Mr. He (full name, in pinyin, is "He Tianer"), a weathered, frail and aging man; childless in his mid-50s.
A monk advised him to eat jiaoteng gathered from a mountain, which He then did, and consumed regularly. Soon after, he was able to father several children, his hair turned from gray to black, his thick head of hair returning as if he were young all over again, his vision improved and his body became more youthful.
Since then, the herb was been called He shou wu (the black haired Mr. He; shou = head; wu = black).
Like other tonic herbs, he shou wu has to be taken in moderate doses regularly over months and years to see significant anti-aging results.
He shou wu has also demonstrated some abilities but most health claims still center on fertility and the hair.
The Story of He shou came to the attention of Americans when it was first revealed in an article that appeared in Health Food Business Magazine in April 1981.
